The reading notes app You don’t just underline words. You underline emotions.

Snap the page, say it or write a couple of lines: the note goes to the right page, with what you felt. Share it with your book club if you like, and see what moved the others.

On a printed page of Jane Austen’s “Northanger Abbey” a sentence is underlined in pencil: “The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” The phone takes a photo, finds the pencil mark and the sentence becomes a note on page 58; the reader picks the emotion Joy and shows it to the club. First with a photo, then by voice; tap “Write it” to see the third way.

On the book’s page

Open a book: how it made its readers feel.

On every book, discover what moved the people who read it, and on which pages. Next to it, your own emotions.

  • Page by pageSee where a book moves its readers most, and with which emotion.

  • No spoilers beyond your pageWhatever comes after your bookmark stays covered.

  • Your emotions, only if you wantThey count here with no name and never with the text of your notes. Remove them whenever you like from your Profile.

  • Share a note as an imageAs a Story, a Post or a Square. The image is made on your device, and nothing is shared until you choose to.

Example of the page of “Sapiens”: 38 readers, mostly Wonder (16) and Inspiration (10); where it moves readers up to page 214, and your emotions.

On every book's page, under your notes. “How it makes readers feel” and “Where it moves readers” appear once at least 5 readers have noted their emotions on that book: nobody can be recognised.

Your library

Bring your books, without starting from scratch.

From Goodreads, StoryGraph or Kindle, with the file you download from them: books, statuses, dates and ratings. From Kindle come your highlights too, and the notes you wrote there. Or frame your shelf with your phone, one stretch at a time.

With statuses, dates and your ratings. Importing is free.

Your rating from 1 to 5only you see it

  1. Phone upright, spines between the two lines
  2. Hold still a moment, then follow the arrow: one stretch at a time
  3. Tap “Add 12 books”: in they all go, at once

Categories and covers arrive by themselves, and there’s no daily limit on the books you add.

Simulation: the phone, held upright, frames a shelf of 12 books with the spines between two lines. You hold still a moment, a ring fills and turns green, then an arrow says which way to move; stretch after stretch the recognized books appear in the list. At the end “Add 12 books”: 11 added, 1 already there, and categories and covers arrive by themselves. Then it starts over.

Reading together

Digital book club

A shared goal: the same book, the same milestones and everyone’s emotions. Private, by invitation, with friends or anyone you like.

  • Choose the book together

Everyone suggests 1 to 3 books, everyone votes: the most voted becomes the club’s book.

  • A shared goal

Reading milestones and a meeting, in person or on a video call. Or just shared reflections, each at their own pace.

  • Shared notes and emotions

Each member chooses which notes to show the club, with the page and the emotions. The others stay theirs.

  • Only up to your page

Notes and lines past your page stay covered until you get there.

  • The club diary, no chat

How did today’s reading go? One line, with the page and an emotion if you like.

  • The club, this week

How many of you read and where most of the club has got to, with no names. Only you see your own page.

  • Free for the people you invite
  • They join with a link
  • On Sundays, the club’s week by email
Example of the club “Thursday readers”: this week 5 of 8 read and most of the club is between page 96 and 140, you’re on page 88; the vote on the next book, with “Stoner” ahead; a note by Marta on page 64 with its emotion, Being moved, shown to the club; today’s club diary with two lines, by Luca on page 98 and by Sara.
Recommendations

Recommendations that start from you, not from sales.

Here your next book grows from your notes, from the emotions you note down, from what the books you finished left you with and from the authors you read. And every recommendation tells you why.

  • Only you, until you choose to show one. If you want, you show some of them to your book club: only its members see them, with your name and the emotions you chose. Or you make a copy of a note visible to the readers of the same book, signed “Reader” or with your first name and initial: only readers who have that book on Booktation see it, not search engines, and it is not used to train any AI. You can take them back whenever you like. Your emotions count in a book’s “How it makes readers feel” only with no name, from at least 5 readers, and you can remove them from your Profile.

What you underline today leads you to your next book.

Note what strikes you and, if you like, how it makes you feel: on your own or with your book club.
